Yacht Aditi

Can’t get ac-custom-ed to it?

Checking in and where’s the customs house? Went past the heaving ferry terminal and hoped it wasn’t in there – bet it is though.

We end up in the fish market and meet Big Dave who leads us back to the meleh of the ferry terminal

Customs is often a kind of underground thing and we are led to a black door at the side of the terminal which is then unlocked and we are on a dockside. Customs is down the line. We meet the guys who are very unusually not watching cricket.

Instead one is watching music on Youtube and the other is busy looking up Premier League Football results.

We are handed out the forms and away we go.

Things are looking quite good apart from some trick questions one of which is ‘days or hours out?’. We have no idea.

Completed we hand it over. The question relates to how long it took to get here so we made the 6 into hours. This is looking good. Costs just £1gbp each plus 75p for something and 50p for the  triplicate form. Excellent.

All stamped.

But here it is – the curved ball is then delivered brilliantly – there’s a long mumble about staying here, going up to Portsmouth (N. Dominica), coming back to customs and who knows what else.

So we said say that again.

And he did but we had no idea what he was saying so we made a few suggestions trying to play it back but eventually we just said our thanks and left. So we are completely confused as to the next customs requirement.
